Wheel of Wow Invitations

This one is for all of you Webkinz Fans out there. My daughter wanted to have a birthday party at Pump It Up and since my husband and I groan everytime thinking about how expensive Pump it Up is we desperately try to think of an alternative every year. Last years alternative was a Rock Star Party, the Ipods were playing girls just wanna have fun and lots of HSM and Shrek. The boys party favors were black skull caps with a skull and cross bones on them, the girls were given pink boas made from fleece and everyone was given star shaped sunglasses. The colors were black and pink, the cake was hot pink with brown tootsie roll stars on the top and sides with the sparkler candles, non alcoholic grape juice was served or champagne. The kids had a blast all for under 50$. Beats 300$ for pump it up hey?

So this year I thought of having a Webkinz party since that is the thing for the year. Complete with a game of spin the Wheel of Wow, trading cards for party favors and make your own webkinz shirts. For the cake we are going to attempt a plumpy cake the hippo that is at the University where you can learn to be a beautician. I will show the wheel of wow that my husband is making when it is complete along with pics of the cake also. The daughter is thrilled to have a Webkinz party and the kids should have lots of fun.

For the party invitations I made a spinner card to resemble the wheel of wow. With much help from a fellow SU demo! Thanks Tina. She helped to get the slices of the pie exact, I guess it helps to be an actuary programmer.

I hope you enjoy this card and a helpful hint that next time if you attempt this card yourself use a compass to make the slices exact. Me and Tina didnt have one at the time and it would have been very useful.

Cheers,

Melissa

Oh my I have been a very bad blogger lately. I apologize to all my readers. Some of you have been anxiously waiting to see pics of the vinyl on my walls. No further waiting here you go. The red vinyl vine is from Uppercase Living, bought at a neighbors party. It was somewhat difficult to put up and I had a few problems with it folding over and getting stuck and ripping. I believe the problem was my being new to this type of applique. If using this type of adhering method I suggest starting small.
The second one Home is where you hang your hat was done with my cricut machine and brown vinyl cricut adhesive. This was very nice and simple to do. The letters just peeled from the backing and where very easy to put on, no rubbing the backing off and peeling the paper away while the words or images are still attached.

The circle flower is a sample from Stampinup they are due with more to come out in the next couple of months I cant wait. There product is much like Uppercase Livings products, cant wait too see what they come out with. This was easier the second time around due to it being smaller and me being use to the practice with the vine.

I am working on getting a few stamp a stack partys together a workshop and more scrap nights. I was working on getting an order out yesterday to have the supplies for them.

I will have one in the fall that will have a Halloween Card, Thanksgiving card or fall card. For Christmas I will have a tag making stamp a stack party. I have order some cute new stamps to use for this. Stamp a stack attendees will be able to pick and choose which ones they would like to do and how many. The price will be low and you can always choose to do more or less. My scrapbooking group will also have a page layout to do during my scrap nights. I will post samples of the stuff for stamp a stacks and scrapbook layouts by next week hopefully. As soon as I get the stamps I will work on these. I will post a shot of a Webkinz Birthday Party invitation I made tomorrow. I am planning on getting these done tonight.
I hope you are all doing well and once again I apologize for being such a bad blogger. Thanks for sticking with me and see you soon.

Cheers

Second Layout challenge

Good Morning,

I am posting my page layout for the second layout challenge. I have taekwondo and a meeting this morning so I wanted to get this done early. I love doing a scrap layout by using a designed plan. It gives me a plan to follow and allows me more time to be creative in how I use the design. Anyways for my page I used SU dimensionals to pop the pictures up off the page. The pictures I used were of the kids sledding on our Snow Hill here in town. I used four total pictures and layered them together on my template. I used my cricut machine to make the sled, snowflakes and lettering. The cartridges I used were Seasons of Joy and Opposites Attract.

Tomorrow I will have some new cards I've designed and a card layout challenge for you. Enjoy my page and have a great Saturday.

Here we are on too the second layout challenge finally. I've been quite the busy person lately. Todays challenge is a fun way to use up all those extra pictures of a trip or kids favorite sport or so on in one page. In order to get the pictures right for the middle strip simply make a template out of scrap cardstock. Use the cardstock strip to lay the pictures out trimming to get the right angles after they are layed out. Use the template one more time when done to trace on your designer paper for the placement of the glued down pictures. Enjoy this challenge I look forward to seeing yours.

Cheers

What I've been up to

I have been busy with kids getting ready for school this week and a million other things as usual. I dont know about the rest of you but I personally cant wait till school starts again. I have been playing with my new stamps I just got in the mail last week. I am going on a retreat this weekend with my uplines. I am dragging my sister Debbie along with me. It should be a great girl getaway. A much needed break for both of us. Since Debbie won the blog candy for last week I will give her the paper doll when I see her and of course the wonderful outfit Abby designed to go with it.

One of my new stamp sets French Flair is actually retiring but it is new to me and I love the simple elegance of it. The card in the picture is the one I made with this stamp set. It would also make a nice wedding card or sympathy card. No Puns with wedding and sympathy in the same sentence :)

This weeks blog candy is an envelope of some fun embellishments for either a page or a card. I am planning on posting another page layout and card this week and then a few more goodies this weekend. We are making make and takes at retreat and I will be posting them on here for you to see.

See ya

My page layout

Here is my page layout for the scrap layout challenge. I changed just a little bit of the dimensions of the layers and made the picture a 7x7 so it was square. This was a simple and elegant way of making a quick page. I started with a 12x 12 piece of SU! soft sky cardstock added a 11 1/2 square piece of designer paper called Bohemia by my minds eye. I then added a 8x8 piece of soft sky again to give it a framed look. On top of the second soft sky layer I added the 7 x7 pic of my daughter. The sentiment is stamped in pacific point blue ink and the stamp was from the Heard from the Heart set both in the new fall catalog for SU! The sentiment is stamped on so Saffron cardstock and reads may all your wishes come true. Enjoy your weekend, and I hope you enjoy the simple challenge.

Cheers,

Color Challenge

Okay so for now here is the color challenge I hope you enjoy it I will post the results of my layout and color challenge page here tomorrow. The colors and design are from a little girl I watch she had a beautiful dress on one day and I snapped a pic to capture the colors. The colors in this dress remind me of Stampin Ups so saffron, brocade blue, regal rose and rose red. Lets see what you come up with. There is also a hint of a lacy flower bordering the hem. Beautiful dress enjoy.
Happy Designing

Sure glad its friday

Okay so I dont know about you guys but I am sure glad it's Friday. It has been a long week here I am slowly getting my energy back. Cooper is doing fine now, The Drs. think he had an acute case of pancreatitis and that he ate something he should not have eaten. Last night I checked our yard and we had quite a bit of Nightshade growing. Anyone who knows anything about this weed you know that just touching it and your hands getting near your mouth can kill you. So we imagine this is how he got sick. The good news is that he is better and him old self again, three garbage bags of Nightshade later! My allergies have given me quite the ear infection everything is still echoing and I can hardly hear, good thing I dont have to hear any of you right! LOL

I appreciate everyones Kind Comments and look forward to another week. I am posting two challenges today a color challenge and a layout challenge, I will be combining the two into a scrap layout. I hope you enjoy.

Cheers,
Melissa

A long night

To all my readers, I apologize for not having a post last night. I am fighting some kind of an allergy cold ontop of alot of other things going on at my house. Last night was national night out, so we had the neighborhood block party. We came in at just after 9 oclock. I was in bed by 9:30 trying to fight this off and my son awoke we at 1:30 worried about our golden lab Cooper. He apparently had been throwing up for the last two hours non-stop. We rushed him to the vet hospital and got home with him around 3:15 in the morning. 6am came early this morning for me. My neighbor drove and helped my son take him to our family vet this morning. We are waiting for results of xrays and bloodwork. We are hoping that the worst is he has a blocked intestine and not liver or kidney disease. So say a little prayer for our Cooper if you will. I'll keep you all posted.

On too todays goodies, My neighbor asked me about clear stamps this week and that she tends to go more towards them to stamp with. One reason is for storage reasons, god knows I've got boxes of them now :). Anyways we were talking about how some people are just not mounting their stamps and using the acrylic clear stamps in place, when I thought of a new product that I have seen but havent read to much about, It is a product from Unity stamps. It is much like an acrylic stamps block but on a board that you can slide in and out of the acrylic block holder, there fore making the storage issue a little easier. Check out the video from CHA and a link below in my favs that will take you to Unity stamp company.

Here is the link to the awesome CHA video of the Unity stamp mounting system

Weekend

Happy Monday!

It was a long weekend here on my end, although they usually are. It did end on a happy note though, I Won! Six more months on my Fan club membership for the dirty girls challenge! Go me, yeah! I did'nt get much time to play with my stamps although, I did find a few minutes last night to play with something new. While I was at Michaels I found these paper dolls that you can design the clothing and accessories. What better to do with your Designer Paper Scraps right? The company that makes them is called Creativity Inc. the product is Project Runway they sell the paper, the standup cardboard dolls to play with and the templates for a bunch of different clothing and accessories everything from purses and shoes to hip sashes and go go boots. I'll keep everyone here up to date with the designs we do, me and my daughter that is. We have designed a few already as you can see in the pics. Abby did the one with the pink and red swirly skirt and I did the one with the red dress and black boots and hat. The design on the dress was SU!s baroque wheel. You change the clothes by using repositionable tape that doesnt ruin the clothing or doll. My five year old can even use the stencils and cut it out FUN FUN FUN!

Okay more blog candy for week two. A doll and an outfit designed by my daughter and extra scraps of course. You can find the dolls and clothing and accesories templates at Michaels or I have a link here on my Favorite links. The company is Project Runway. For now enjoy the tips. If anyone else trys these post me a link I would love to see what you are coming up with design wise also. Other goodies to come this week, more design challenges, technique tutorials, card layouts, scrap layouts and an exciting new product and a link to it for a neighbor.

Have a great week

The posted comment winner of the first weeks blog candy is TARA, I will see her tonight so I can give her the wonderful news myself. My order unfortunately has been back logged so she may have to wait a bit, but I will get them to her ASAP when they arrive. Thanks for a great week everyone and have a scrap happy weekend

Midnight Post

So I am staying true to my title tonight. It is 10:30 pm and I am just posting todays post! Im obsessed and can't help myself :). So my find for the week was pretty fabulous in my opinion. Went to Michaels to night with DH and found cricut cartridges on sale again for 40$ each. Not only were they on sale but if you bought three or more you got a rebate to mail in for the Cricut design studio software!!!! DH was going to buy this for me for xmas, well xmas was tonight at my house apparently :)

WOO HOO! three new cartridges and design studio, I'm so loved :) I think hes just trying to get his new saw at sears! Love ya honey. So tomorrow is the drawing of my first ever blog giveaway, I'm wishing you all luck and for the card challenge for today it is to use a clear form of a plastic file folder or a sheet of acetate. On my card I found the file folder at the Dollar Store, I actually scarfed quite a few in different colors and some with flowers. I cut the two pocket folder up to be a 5x5 square card, my favorite lately, the polka dots are the design of the folder. The inside is covered with black and then white. The next pic shows the inside of the card with sentiment and cake. The ribbon is holding all the layers together. Enjoy using this form of material, I know I did. Post your comment here on my blog with a link to your online pic in either SCS or your own blog and I will pick one to appear on my blog next week. I sure hope you all are joining in the fun, I know I have had a blast this week with my new blog and I hope you are enjoying it also.

Peace and Love

Watercolor technique

Hello again and welcome back! It was so great to hear from so many of you yesterday
and to reconnect to some old friends. I was asked yesterday how to achieve the technique on the card with the little girl by quite a few of you so for today we have the tutorial! Incase some of you have'nt learned how to use a blender pen or watercolor yet here is a instructional video for you to use and learn how. In the tutorial the stamp I use is the male version of the litte girl. Yep, had to have both !LOL. Enjoy the tutorials I hope they help clear up all your questions. The picture is of the finished product on a Joyfold card. To learn more about how to make a Joyfold card go to SplitCoast Stampers and find the tutorial on the home page or under resources. The anchor holds my Joyfold card closed, I cut it from my Cricut Going Places cartridge. If you would like to learn this technique in person let me know, I would love to show you or a group of your friends. I LOVE getting to share this with others, It's so much fun. If you need to know more about the products or are wanting to place an order with me for crayons, paper, pencils or blender pens I would be more than glad to help with that also.
Cheers,
Melissa
